| Office Mold Questions & Answers
Q.
I work in an office that I believe has mold growing behind the walls and
probably in the carpet. It could be in the air ducts too. I have been there
six months now and am now experiencing a lot of coughing, nasal and chest
congestion, and more flair up with my asthma. Before I started working
there I was not sick, now I'm sick all the time. My immune system was
weakened and got an upper respiratory infection that lasted more than 14
days. The office carpet has not been shampooed in about 10 years or longer
and there is also cockroach feces on one of the office walls. The office
has a lot of traffic from clients and customers and it smells old and
mildewed....please let me know what you think. Thanks. (Feb. 10, 2011)

Your description of your office tells me that it is very likely that you are
working in an extremely mold-contaminated work place. Your health problems
are typical of what people suffer when living or working in mold
infestation. You would be helped big-time if you learn about available
medical mold testing and treatment options you have in my in depth mold
advice ebook Mold Health Guide, only $15 for email attachment
delivery to you from
http://www.moldmart.net. Mold
antibody blood testing can document whether a person has internal body mold
growth. You can use Scotch tape (one inch wide by 3 inch long strips) to
mold test both visible mold and suspicious surfaces (like the walls you
refer to) to send the collected lift tape samples to a mold lab for mold
species identification and quantification. Learn about how to do lift tape
sampling and where to send your collected samples by visiting Mold Mart.
Your supervisor and business owner are also at risk by working or being in a
mold-infested office. You should suggest that your supervisor or business
owner hire a Certified Mold Inspector for a thorough mold inspection and
testing of your office. If you don't get cooperation from them, complain to
the local city building inspector and health department. Learn your legal
options as an employee by reading Mold Legal Guide, also at
Mold Mart. You and your co-workers cannot continue to work in the
mold-afflicted office during mold remediation process---your boss would need
to move your office temporarily to a mold-safe place until mold remediation
clearance mold testing is completed. Don't move any office furniture and
equipment else without first scrubbing it outdoors with borax laundry
detergent, a natural mold cleaner, in warm water to remove any deposited or
landed mold spores and mold growth so you don't mold cross contaminate where
you move the items to. If your boss won't take care of the mold infestation
problem, find another job at your earliest possibility (hard to do in these
financially-difficult times).---Phillip Fry,
